\u003cstrong\u003elight flies\u003c\/strong\u003e and sandy conditions, then you want to use the 40lb, 30lb, and 15lb combination.   The tippet being 15lb.    The 15lb tippet is more supple and will allow the lighter flies to look more natural.   Stiffer line may not allow super light flies to reach the bottom.   However, we rarely change the tippet to 15lb test.    If the fly is presented properly then it doesn’t mater what size leader you are using.   Best way to find out is to test it out yourself.   You can always change the bottom 3 foot section of line from 25 to 15 or vice versa.   The 15 lb tippet would be used at places where the fish don’t bite easily such as the Triangle or South Bay on Oahu.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eIf you are fishing areas where the bottom is rocky or near ledges or high current and deep, then us 20 to 25lb test.   On the majority of our trips we use 25lb test tippet.  This gives extra strength in high turtle areas, rocky areas or ledge areas.   This combination is key when fish places closer to the surf or pancake flats.   Use this combination on Maui, Big Island, Lanai, Kauai, Molokai South eastern flats, oahu Kaneohe, oahu Hawaii Kai, fish.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eUse Xs or small eyes with larger hooks when fishing in higher currents, more light, slight waves, deeper water and lighted conditions.   These flies generate louder impact on the surface of the water which means you have to cast further from the fish.  More light allows you to see the fish early and lead the fish more when casting.   \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eUse Large or XL eyes in deeper conditions and more wave action.   You will need the fly to stay in place and get to the bottom.    These flies are great for fishing theory we developed over the years.
